ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) - Extra police are on hand at all Allegan public schools through the end of the week, while district officials are reassuring parents about student safety in the wake of a reported remark by an unnamed Allegan High freshman about possibly “doing something to students” in advance of Friday’s end of the Mayan calendar. Authorities have secured guns in the boy’s home, and the youth has been suspended from school, as the matter remains under investigation.
