PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) - The shovels have turned and construction has begun, but the battle over a development in one of the Lakeshore’s more affluent neighborhoods apparently continues. Members of Macatawa Area Residents for Fair Development are hoping that the state Court of Appeals will hear their plea to review an August decision by Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Jon Van Allsburg. It cleared the way for Point West LLC to start building as many as 29 homes, an 80-slip marina and an 11-condo structure on eight acres in Macatawa Park off of the southwestern shore of Lake Macatawa. The neighborhood group cites density and access concerns in their lawsuit. The developers are moving ahead despite the legal challenge, saying that the project has been four years in the works, and are hopeful of having the first residents move in as early as the end of 2013.
