GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC) - The circumstances surrounding a fatal crash south of Grand Haven last night continue to be investigated. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Brian Buter, 58-year-old Carol Perrier was driving her SUV southbound on 168th Avenue when she lost control just past Pine Dune Court, about a half mile north of Buchanan Street. The vehicle veered off of the roadway, knocked down a mailbox, and then hit a soft embankment, causing it to spin. The force of the collision caused the unbuckled driver to be thrown from the SUV. Efforts to revive Perrier at the scene and at North Ottawa Community Hospital were unsuccessful. It was not immediately determined what led to the crash.
