BLENDON TWP., MI (WHTC) - Two sisters from Zeeland were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash involving the car that they were passengers in. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Austin, 43-year-old Kevin Groothuis had stopped his eastbound automobile at the stop sign on Port Sheldon Street at 72nd Avenue when he pulled out into the intersection and into the path of a southbound pickup that apparently drove through a stop sign. The force of the collision knocked the car into a ditch. While Groothuis and the other driver, 59-year-old Kenneth Campfield of Allendale, were not hurt, Groothuis’ two daughters were taken to DeVos Children’s Hospital, with seven-year-old Grace airlifted in critical condition, and nine-year-old Hannah driven by ambulance in serious but stable condition. The crash remains under investigation
