ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) - Although a plea deal was reached with prosecutors, a 45-year-old Plainwell man could still spend the rest of his life behind bars when he is sentenced on January 22^nd. Jeffery Witt pleaded guilty yesterday in Allegan County Circuit Court to second-degree counts of murder and criminal sexual conduct in the April 11^th death of his 38-year-old girlfriend, with open murder, felony murder and another second-degree CSC charges dropped. Deputies found the body of Amy Hartman in the home that she and Witt shared, and pathologists ruled that she died of strangulation after being beaten and cut.
