COMSTOCK PARK, MI (WHTC) - The Detroit Tigers announced on Thursday the appointment of Mike Henneman as the new pitching coach for its Class A Midwest League affiliate West Michigan Whitecaps. It will be his first work in organized baseball since retiring as an active player in 1996 following a decade in the majors with the Bengals, Houston and Texas. Henneman had been involved with youth baseball near his home in Texas over the past 16 years, and replaces Mark Johnson as the 'Caps hurling mentor.
