WASHINGTON (WHTC) - The first of a number of expected nominees from the Lakeshore for entrance into the nation’s service academies next fall was announced by House Representative Fred Upton yesterday. The St. Joseph Republican is endorsing David McKeever from Allegan High for the US Naval Academy in Annapolis. High school seniors need the blessing of a member of Congress before even being considered by the academies for possible admission. Congressman Bill Huizenga (R-Zeeland), along with senators Carl Levin (D-Detroit) and Debbie Stabenow (R-Lansing) will be announcing their choices later this school year.
