SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission holds a public meeting at the Beach Haven Event Center in South Haven this evening to go over ongoing safety concerns at the Palisades plant. The facility in Covert has been shut down a number of times over the past two years due to pipe leaks and operational situations, leading to a ratings downgrade by the NRC, but regulators and plant operator Entergy both say that the public’s safety has not been endangered. Out-of-town protesters will petition the NRC again to shut down the plant permanently.
