DETROIT (WKZO) -- Robert Bashara was sentenced to six-and-a half to 20-years in prison Monday on a charge of solicitation of murder.
The Grosse Pointe Park businessman had earlier pleaded guilty to trying to hire a hitman to kill handyman Joseph Gentz, who is charged with the death of Bashara's wife Jane Bashara. In court, Bashara admitted to the crime again, adding "I did something that I will regret for the rest of my life."
Bashara is a person of interest in the death of his wife but has not been charged in the case. Gentz has told authorities he was hired by Bashara to kill Jane Bashara and is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
