WALKER, MI (WHTC) - As counselors prepare to meet grieving students and staffers today, prosecutors will be reviewing the case file involving a fatal car-pedestrian accident on Friday night involving a GVSU student and a Holland woman. According to authorities, 19-year-old Jessie Winterholler had been one of two passengers in an eastbound vehicle on Three Mile Road in Walker when an argument ensued. As the driver pulled over the car on Nolan Avenue, one passenger got out and dashed across the busy roadway. Winterholler attempted to follow her when she was struck by the unnamed 49-year-old Holland woman’s vehicle and died at the scene. Kent County Sheriff’s Deputies say that the Holland woman was sober, wasn’t speeding, and apparently didn’t see the student in dark clothing. Funeral arrangements for Winterholler, whose hometown was the downriver Detroit suburb of Trenton, were incomplete as this week began.
