ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC) - Consumers Energy has cut a rebate check for over 116 thousand dollars to Grand Valley State University for installing two new high-efficiency chillers just over a month ago in the Central Utilities Building on the main Allendale Campus. The 1.5 million-dollar purchase will save the school nearly 200 kilowatt hours of electricity annually. Consumers’ check comes from a federal energy conservation and efficiency incentive program begun four years ago, and GVSU has been a part of 33 projects since then.
