HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - As motorists crisscross the state this holiday weekend, they will find gasoline averaging $4.07 per gallon, according to Triple A’s daily polling. That mark is slightly higher than the Lakeshore’s mean of $3.98 taken from this morning’s weekly survey, but it’s substantially more than the national level of $3.82. This morning’s local overview was up three pennies from last Friday, but down 11 cents from Monday’s Hurricane Isaac-related spike at the pump. It’s the highest mean along the Lakeshore since Tulip Time. Analysts say that retailers have been slow to drop rates in order to recoup costs from purchasing higher-priced wholesale fuel this past Monday.
