GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) - Two drivers from Ottawa County were involved in a fatal crash along I-196 in Grand Rapids on Monday afternoon.
According to authorities, 21-year-old Kendal Den Bleyker of Zeeland was driving his car westbound, apparently heading home from classes at GVSU’s downtown campus, when he lost control between Market and Butterworth streets. The vehicle veered to the left, into the median, and was starting to roll when it was struck by the van of 64-year-old Donald Falbe of Jenison, who was driving eastbound. Den Bleyker died at the scene; Falbe was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Services for Den Blyker have been set for Friday morning at Holland Heights CRC, following visitation tomorrow night at the Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home. The crash remains under investigation.
