DETROIT (WKZO) -- Major automakers are riding high in how they rank in customer satisfaction. The American Customer Satisfaction Index shows the industry reached an overall ranking of 84 out of 100 this year. That ties 2009 for its best-ever mark.
Auto buyers are satisfied even though prices have rebounded since the federal government launched the cash-for-clunkers incentives in 2009 during the depths of the recession. Ford's Lincoln brand had the best score at 90. Foreign companies still rank high, with Toyota's Lexus luxury brand scoring second-best at 89.
