HOLLAND (WHTC) - The Ottawa County Health Department has issued a no-body contact advisory for Lake Macatawa at Dunton Park in Holland Township and at Holland State Park because of algae blooms on the water. The algae, which have a pea-green tint to the water and scum floating on the surface, can led to rashes, hives or blisters if it contacts the skin. If you swallow the water, it could lead to abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting. Water drops could lease to sore throat or runny nose. It’s the third time this summer that the Health Department has issued an advisory because of algae blooms on Lake Mac at Dunton Park. The advisory does not affected Lake Michigan at Holland State Park.
