UNDATED (WHTC) - As extra police patrols along the Lakeshore and across the state began over the weekend, there were no initial reports of any serious injuries or fatalities on Allegan or Ottawa county roads. Additional state police troopers, county sheriff’s deputies and local police officers are conducting protracted surveillance of major arteries through Labor Day, focusing on drunken driving, with funding for the additional hours coming from federal grants funneled through the state Office of Highway Safety Planning.
