ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC) - The Ottawa County Planning Commission and Grand Valley State University are holding an open house from 6 to 8 PM tonight at GVSU’s Alumni House in Allendale. The session is to present the preliminary results of the West Michigan Transit Linkages Study, which analyzes potential routes for regional commuter transit service, along with determining the feasibility of implementing and sustaining these routes. The study comes after Hudsonville voters in May rejected contracting with Grand Rapids’ Rapid for bus service. Currently, there is no regional mass transit for the Lakeshore, with separate fixed route service in and around Holland, and on-demand service in other areas such as Jenison and Saugatuck.
