CHICAGO (1660 The Fan) – The Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs offered fans an offensive explosion in the third game of a four game series at Great American Ball Park.

The second game of a day-night double header saw at least one run scored in all but two innings, as the Cubs were able to hold off a late rally by the Reds to take the win, 9-7.

Runs were spread out for the Cubs, who saw seven players drive in at least one RBI. Starlin Castro had arguably the best game, though, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and a stolen base.

Chicago’s Brooks Raley earns the first win of his Major League career, giving up four hits and three earned runs in 5.1 innings of work. Cincinnati’s Todd Redmond gets lit up in the loss, surrendering four earned runs on five hits in 3.1 innings. Carlos Marmol gets his fifteenth save of the year in the win.

The Cubs conclude their four-game set against the Reds tomorrow night in an afternoon game. Chris Volstad looks to improve upon his woeful 0-9 record as he takes the mound for Chicago, though he will be taking on a very capable Mat Latos, who will be looking for his eleventh win of the season.

First pitch is at 1:10 p.m., and can be heard on 1660 The Fan.
