SPRING LAKE, MI (WHTC) - A 78-year-old Spring Lake man was seriously injured in a crash near his home this morning. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Ditmar, Joel Crouse was driving his car southbound on 148^th Avenue around 7:25 AM when he went through the stop sign at State Road. His vehicle crossed the intersection without incident, but it then went off of the roadway and slammed into a utility pole about 200 feet from the corner. The buckled up Crouse was taken from his car by rescue units and transported to the Mercy Health Partners medical facility in Muskegon for treatment. The investigation into the incident continues; any witnesses are asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
