LANSING, MI (WHTC) - US flags across Michigan are at half-staff today in honor of Marine Gunnery Sergeant Daniel Price. The 27-year-old Zeeland man was buried with full military honors at Pilgrim Home Cemetery in Holland on Saturday following his funeral. Hundreds filled Central Wesleyan Church for the service, as well as lining the procession route afterward, apparently thwarting a planned protest by Westboro Baptist Church members over American tolerance of homosexuality, although a number of vehicles with Kansas license plates, the home state of that church, were seen in local hotels overnight. A nine-year Marine veteran, Sergeant Price was killed, along with a fellow Leatherneck from Florida, during combat operations in Afghanistan on July 29th.
