UNDATED (WHTC) - Justin Verlander scattered eight hits and struck out 14 over eight innings, while Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder socked solo home runs, as the Tigers beat the visiting New York Yankees last night, 7-2. Detroit goes for its sixth straight victory as it hosts the Bronx Bombers again this evening. Coverage from Comerica Park on 1450 WHTC begins at 6:40 PM.

Eric Stults and four relievers teamed on a five-hit shutout, as San Diego last night handed the visiting Cubs their sixth straight defeat, 2-0. The series at Petco Park continues this evening.

Gordon Beckham’s homer in the eighth inning snapped a 2-2 tie, while Chris Sale allowed eight hits with seven strikeouts in eight innings, as the White Sox defeated visiting Kansas City last night, 4-2. The series at US Cellular Field in Chicago continues this evening.

The Whitecaps opened up with a three-run first inning, and then Jason Krizan drove in two runs without the benefit of a hit through a sacrifice fly and a bases loaded walk, as West Michigan won at Lansing last night, 6-3. The finale of the four-game series at Cooley Law School Stadium is this evening.
