HOLLAND (WHTC) - The Holland Museum has announced it has received a grant from the Community Foundation of the Holland-Zeeland Area to cover the cost of a Civil War Muster that will take place this fall at Van Raalte Farm. Museum spokeswoman Kristina Weighmink (Way-mink) says this year’s event, scheduled for September 22-23, will mark the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest one-day battle in U.S. history. The museum is working with Ottawa County Farm Bureau and the city of Holland to plant a small cornfield on the sledding hill at Van Raalte Farm to simulate part of the battlefield at Antietam. Last year’s muster brought in 3500 visitors to the area.
