OTSEGO, MI (WHTC) - In the best of times, trying to drive east-west across Allegan County smoothly is difficult. Right now, it could be next to impossible.
That's because, starting today, M-89 will be closed from Farmer Street to North Street in Otsego in order to replace a sewer line that had been mistakenly plugged with concrete during an earlier road project. The state and the city will share the 40 thousand-dollar cost. A detour has been posted.
This is on top of M-89 work in Plainwell that’s ongoing through November, as well as the long-term reconstruction of Grand Street (M-222) heading east out of Allegan towards Martin.
