SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - The man dubbed the “obituary burglar” has been bound over for trial in Sheboygan County Court. 62 year old Dennis Petrie of Sheboygan Falls was back in court for a preliminary hearing onTuesday. Judge Angela Sutkiewicz ruled there is enough evidence for a trial on 15 felony and 6 misdemeanor counts of theft and burglary, and Petrie was returned to the Sheboygan County jail. Petrie was apprehended in late March when a homeowner caught him trying to break into his house. Detectives then spent 4 days searching his property, where they seized over 60 firearms, jewelry, coins, and other items. They had to use a truck to haul away the evidence. Authorities said Petrie would apparently target the homes of people who had recently died, at times, when family members were at the funeral. Petrie is facing up to 175 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
