Johnny Depp is taking a big leap from his normal practice and doing a movie that looks pretty strange.

Tim Burton's upcoming horror film, Dark Shadows, will star Depp as an adventurous vampire named Barnabus Collins, whose travels involve him with a slew of bizarre circumstances and mythological characters of likely dark intention. We know that Tim Burton has one of the most distinct visual styles in modern cinema, so it's no surprise to see what Depp looks like in character in the set photos below. The amalgamation of traditionally classy, what with the hat, coat and cane, and timelessly spooky, what with everything else going on with him, makes for your standard Burton hero.

This film is actually slated as a horror, which will separate it a little bit from Burton films we know as ""horrory"" comedies and family films. But it's likely we'll still see his trademark sense of macabre humor.
