The actress, who shot to fame as Olivia in The Cosby Show, picked up the Spirit Award on Monday (29Aug11) for her performance alongside Rosie Perez in the play Father's Day.

The honour, previously awarded to Usher and Vivica A. Fox, recognises performers who bring ""energy, tenacity, innovation, commitment, talent and spirit"" to the stage.
