LANSING (WKZO) -- The state legislature's taken another step toward letting motorcyclists in Michigan ride without helmets, but Governor Snyder may not support the measure.
A House Committee has passed a bill that would allow riders to go without helmets, but only if they are over 21, have gone through training, have been riding for at least two years, and are carrying over 21-thousand dollars in insurance coverage. Critics say someone suffering from a serous crash could burn through that much in just a week.
Governor Snyder has said he would only support the measure if it was part of a larger insurance reform that would protect other motorists from getting stuck with the tab for increased healthcare bills.
