PARK TWP., MI (WHTC News) - It was something that made sense for a company who prides itself on sustainability.
Employees of Charter House Innovations and City Flats Hotel combed through Tunnel Park on Monday evening, looking to clean up that Park Township facility on the shores ofLake Michigan. It was part of the “Adopt a Beach” program by the Alliance of the Great Lakes aimed at improving conditions at spots along the Lakeshore.
According to Marketing Director Sarah Lilly, five pounds of trash was collected, although the overall amount of litter on the beach was considered "very low" at under 10 percent. No dead fish were found; one dead Northern Cardinal was uncovered.
Volunteers also conducted a complete beach health assessment, inputting the data onto the AGL’s online system. CHI operates hotels in both Holland and Grand Rapids that stress sustainability.
