Tom Hanks is at it again. The man has worked with HBO to bring us some seriously quality television -- like Band of Brothers, Big Love, John Adams, and The Pacific. Now, he's got another set of tricks up his sleeve. Hanks, along with Playtone co-founder Gary Goetzeman, is bringing the world of collegiate athletics to the small screen with new half-hour comedy for the pay-network called Players.
Yep, that sounds like the classy version of SpikeTV's Blue Mountain State -- it's got that cheeky double meaning thing going on, but with HBO and Hanks behind the scenes, we'll know it will be a little more about sports and a little less about half-naked girls falling into over-sized football helmets. That's what happens on Blue Mountain State, right?
