SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC News) - Proponents of a grass-roots effort to merge the governments of Saugatuck, Douglas and Saugatuck Township into a single entity have issued the first of what they say is a number of “White Papers” designed to generate support of their initiative. The Consolidated Government Committee claims that at least a million dollars annually could be saved. Leaders of the three governments are reportedly not receptive to the proposal, which must be passed by voters. The CGC holds informational meetings every Saturday in Douglas.
