ARLINGTON, TX (WKZO) -- Nelson Cruz stepped into a Ryan Perry pitch and drove it deep into the Texas night to give the Texas Rangers a walk-off grand-slam win over the Detroit Tigers in game 2 of the American League Championship series Monday night. The Tigers had led 3-2 before Cruz hit his first homerun earlier in the game to tie it.
The Tigers also appeared to be headed for a victory after getting out of trouble in the bottom of the 9th inning when Jose Valverde loaded the bases with no outs. They were never able to build enough hits in a row to develop any type of an offensive threat.
Than, in the 11th inning with Ryan Perry on the hill Cruz drove his second home run into the stands and sent the Tigers back to Detroit down 2-0 in the American League Championship Series. Up next the Rangers head to Detroit to take on the Tigers with coverage beginning at 7:40pm.
