GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC News) - In a meeting last night, the Grand Haven Township board approved asking the North Ottawa Rod & Gun Club to keep its outdoor firing range closed until an independent auditor looks over the facility’s safety. The Board plans to work with the Gun Club to negotiate a safety agreement, and avoid litigation for now.
Residents of the Cutter Park Subdivision say they have found nearly a dozen stray slugs, including one that wounded a contractor last week. County Undersheriff Gregory Steigenga confirmed that it was a stray bullet from the gun of a GVSU police officer that accidentally wounded the contractor. A decision by the County Prosector's office to take any legal action is expected later this week; Ron Frantz was busy last week in court prosecuting the Joshua Hambley murder trial.
