The Holland Community Aquatic Center is the setting for the state Division 2 high school girls swimming and diving championship meet this afternoon. Holland High set a national record yesterday in the 200-yard medley relay during yesterday’s preliminaries, and the Dutch girls are favored to capture its first MHSAA crown in this sport.

Hope College advanced to the NCAA Division 3 men’s soccer tournament semifinals for the first time in school history by outlasting Luther yesterday, 2-1. Goalkeeper Logan Neil scored in the ninth round of penalty kicks, and then stopped the final shot to secure the win for the Flying Dutchmen, who plays host Ohio Wesleyan this evening for a berth in the Final Four.

Despite 22 points from Maddie Burnett, Hope’s women lost at a basketball tournament in Cincinnati to Capital College yesterday, 62-53. The Flying Dutch faces host Mount Saint Joseph this afternoon.
Grand Valley State’s men are home to defending Division 2 national champion Bellarmine today.
In state major college basketball yesterday: Michigan State topped Texas Southern, 76-41; Western Michigan was iced by Iona, 94-88; Eastern Michigan aced Arkansas-Little Rock, 62-51; and Detroit clobbered Concordia, 113-86. Oakland is at Grambling this afternoon.
