(Lansing, MI)  --  Under a bill passed by the state Senate, some public employees will have to start paying at least 20 percent of their healthcare premiums. The changes would be for teachers and local government employees and couldn't affect state workers or university employees unless voters approve a constitutional amendment. Democrats called the legislation an attack on collective bargaining, while Republicans contend it will save millions of dollars.
