OSHKOSH, Wis. (WTAQ) - UW-Oshkosh is taking action against a professor accused of recommending his students sign a recall petition against state Senator Randy Hopper.
In a statement, the school took "corrective action" after they determined criminal justice professor Stephen Richards recommended students sign the recall.
That's after the State Republican Party produced an audio recording from March 7th.
Chancellor Richard Wells in the statement says the university respects the principle of academic freedom, but Richards' comments clearly crossed the line of inappropriate political activity.
Both sides apparently agreed to the "corrective action", but the school declined to explain what that action was.
