HOLLAND, MI (WHTC News) - Some Hope College students will return from spring break early to mourn the loss of one of their professors.
School officials say that complications from a premature childbirth led to the Saturday morning death of Dr. Jennifer Tait, who had been an English instructor at the Holland school since 2002. It is believed that the 35-year-old professor may have suffered an aneurysm that could have come following a bout of pregnancy-induced hypertension. The young boy that she had delivered seven weeks early is currently at DeVos Children's Hospital and is expected to survive.
Dr. Tait had been a popular professor during her tenure, earning Outstanding Professor Educator honors by the graduating class of 2008, and had been a co-advisor to the Black Student Union organization.A funeral service is slated for next Friday at 11 AM at Grace Episcopal Church in Holland.
