LANSING (WKZO) - A massive fire this week at a Livingston County auto parts supplier is now affecting production at a Lansing General Motors plant. Second and 3rd shift workers at GM’s Lansing Delta Township Plant will go on temporary layoff starting Monday, this, after a fire destroyed part of Magna Atreum in Howell.
That plant supplies parts for the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia. Work has also been suspended at GM’s pickup assembly plant in Flint and the Lordstown assembly and stamping plant in Warren.
The fire began Wednesday afternoon and burned into Thursday morning. Livingston County Fire Marshall Les Rodwell says some of Magna’s equipment is salvageable. Chrysler is also monitoring its parts supply at plants in Toledo, Windsor, and Brampton, Ontario, but no alterations have so far been announced.
