WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A bill to raise the debt ceiling that passed the Republican-controlled House of Representatives was headed for defeat on Friday in the Democratic-controlled Senate.
Voting had not concluded, but Democrats had amassed more than the 51 votes needed to defeat the bill.
The bill has passed earlier in the House 218-210. No Democrats voted for the bill.
