SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC News) - Saugatuck city officials are dealing with a letter sent by theMichiganchapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, alleging that those working to circulate petitions seeking a recall vote of Governor Snyder were not allowed to approach or speak to pedestrians on municipal sidewalks. The ACLU claims First Amendment free speech rights are being violated, but Saugatuck officials dispute the allegations. A similar situation in the Flint area has led to a lawsuit by the ACLU.
