HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC News) - The issue of legalized medical marijuana in Michigan continues to confound local governmental officials.

The latest municipality to apparently throw up their hands and wait for guidance from Lansing is Holland Township, where planners there last night decided to scrap a proposed ordinance dealing with that issue which had been four months in the works. Officials cited public safety concerns, most notably the possibility that pot clinics would become magnets for criminal activity, as the biggest reason for starting from scratch and waiting for state lawmakers to decide how to implement the constitutional amendment that voters approved more than two years ago.

A number of other communities statewide, including Holland and Zeeland, have established temporary moratoriums on establishing medical marijuana clinics until the legislature comes up with standard regulations
