LANSING (WKZO) -- The state of Michigan is warning those out of work that the federal Extended Benefit program for unemployment pay is ending at the end of next week. At the same time, the program is set to expire on December 31st, the federally-funded Emergency Unemployment Compensation program will stop accepting applications on the same day.
The federal program provided jobless Americans with up to 20 additional weeks of unemployment pay, while the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program paid an additional 53 weeks.
