LANSING (WKZO) -- Governor Rick Snyder is ordering that U.S. flags throughout the state be lowered Friday to half-staff to honor U.S. Army Private First Class Jackie Lee Diener II.

The 20-year-old Diener of Boyne City, died on November 21 in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit.  He was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division based at Fort Drum.
