SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC News) - Another sign of cooperation between Saugatuck Township and developer Aubrey McClendon will be seen this afternoon, when the township’s fire district and Singapore Dunes LLC jointly announce the mooring of water rescue craft on McClendon’s property near the mouth of the Kalamazoo River. Officials say that it would substantially reduce response times for assisting swimmers and boaters on Lake Michigan. This may be part of an out-of-court settlement of McClendon’s lawsuit against the township on tax and zoning issues.
