CHICAGO, IL (WHTC News) - Amtrak officials announced today that upcoming maintenance work on rail lines by CSX crews will necessitate an earlier morning departure for the Pere Marquette daily service from Grand Rapids to Chicago. Starting on August 15th, the passenger train will depart from the Calder City at 6 AM, about 90 minutes earlier than normal, with the stop in Holland coming around 6:50. The earlier start, which will be in effect through September 1st, is to enable crews to have more daylight to replace rails, ties and ballast on the lines.
