(Holland, MI - WHTC News) - It’s one of the Lakeshore’s newest yearly traditions.
The Annual Labor Day Truck Parade has grown from modest beginnings in 2005 to become what organizers are calling the largest organized non-military convoy in the U.S. This morning, about 50 big rigs and other vehicles will be trekking from the Herman Miller complex, through Main Street in downtown Zeeland, and then westbound along Chicago Drive, before driving along 8th Street through downtown Holland. The approximately half hour-to-45-minute excursion ends with an ice cream and hot dog social at the parking lot of the Holland Civic Center, where people can get to see the semis and other vehicles up close and personal through 12 Noon.
Officials of West Michigan Works, the group putting together the road rally, say that the parade honors the local workforce’s hard work ethic and shows the mutual respect Lakeshore employers and employees enjoy towards one another.
