(Park Twp., MI - WHTC News) - A 17-year-old Grand Rapids man found out that trying to run from the law along the Lakeshore was a fruitless exercise.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Keith Garvelink, a resident in the Holiday West Park on Butternut Drive in Park Township called 9-1-1 early yesterday morning, saying that he was seeing someone break into a number of parked vehicles in his neighborhood. When deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect started to run, and then tried to fight his way out of custody after being caught, before being finally subdued.
The unnamed suspect is spending the rest of the holiday weekend in the Ottawa County Jail, awaiting a Tuesday arraignment in Holland District Court on various charges. The incident remains under investigation.
