(Jenison, MI - WHTC News) - Pedaling on a busy Jenison road during the day is dangerous enough … trying to do it at night without lights on brought pain and suffering to a 48-year-old Hudsonville man.

According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Bob Ruster, Scott Moseler was trying to bike his way along Baldwin Street, between 12th and 20th Avenues, in the middle of the right hand lane on Saturday night, with 29-year-old Kevin Gumowski of Jenison bearing down upon him in his car. Gumowski struck Moseler’s bicycle, throwing the un-helmeted rider onto the pavement, and Moseler didn’t have any lights on his bike.

Moseler was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment of a serious head injury. Gumowski and a passenger in his vehicle were not hurt. The incident remains under investigation.
