(Washington, DC) -- The federal government is going after a west Michigan dairy farm. The Justice Department has filed a complaint on behalf of the Food and Drug Administration against Scenic View Dairy of Hamilton along with the company's president and three managers. The government accuses the dairy of selling dairy cows for human consumption that had illegal drug residues in edible tissues. The dairy had received numerous warnings against such practices. The government alleges Scenic View Dairy sold cows for slaughter that were treated with the antibiotics neomycin, penicillin and sulfadimethoxine, drugs contrary for their FDA-approved labeling and without a valid prescription. Company officials didn't immediately comment on these allegations, which were made public yesterday after business hours.
