(Ypsilanti, MI)  --  Eastern Michigan University and the union representing its professors have come to terms on a tentative contract.  The deal was approved by the EMU-American Association of University Professors Executive Committee on Tuesday.  The faculty as a whole still must ratify the agreement.  The professors had threatened to strike at the start of the fall semester next week.  The union says the two-year agreement includes a one-percent raise this year and a two-percent raise in the second year.  The previous contract expired at midnight.
