(undated - WHTC News) - Two public panels are slated to meet today.

First up is the monthly West Michigan Airport Authority, who convenes in Zeeland’s Howard Miller Community Center at 11:30 AM. Among the items on the agenda is appointments and/or reappointments to board subcommittees, and what the authority members may be considering in relation to that is a proposed fiscal year 2011 work plan that includes the following: Provide a reliable instrumental landing system at Tulip City Airport by refurbishing the existing setup by the end of December; lay the groundwork for the construction of a new terminal by 2014; develop a communications strategy to help inform voters in advance of the anticipated May 3rd ballot proposal to maintain a current authority millage; complete an airport layout plan; and construct a public viewing area next spring.

Late this afternoon, the Holland Board of Public Works’ board meets at the BPW’s offices, and one of the matters they are expected to deal with is approving a contract with Dan Hoe Excavating to replace a water main under Central Avenue from US-31 north to Bellwood Drive that has deteriorated since it was installed in 1964. The Holland-based company had the low bid of 103 thousand dollars for the project, more than nine thousand dollars below estimates by engineers.
